FUTMinna Cut-Off Mark for All Courses 2024/2025: Hello there! Are you searching for the Federal University of Technology Minna’s cut-off marks for the 2024/2025 academic session, both general and departmental? Great news, you’re in the right place!

FUTMinna Cut-Off Mark for All Courses

When it comes to higher education, the aim isn’t just to meet the cut-off; it’s to beat it. This is especially true if you’re planning to attend the Federal University of Technology Minna, a school renowned for its academic rigour.

See the cut-off mark as your starting point, not your end goal. Meeting it is just the basic requirement; exceeding it shows you’re up for the academic rigours ahead and gives you an edge over other applicants. FUTMinna looks for highly intelligent students, not just students who do the bare minimum.

In this post, we’ll talk about why it’s crucial to aim higher than just the cut-off and give you all the info on the general and departmental cut-off marks.

Let’s dive right in! Ever heard of the Quota System? No? Alright, let me break it down for you because it’s crucial to understand why you need to go above and beyond, not just meet the cut-off.

What is the Quota System?

The quota system is a policy in Nigerian universities that regulates the number of students admitted annually and into each department.

Why Exceed the Requirements?

Here’s the thing: aim to go beyond the basic requirements for your desired course. For instance, if you need at least five credit passes in your O-levels, aim for distinctions.

The same goes for the cut-off mark. If it’s 200 for your course, aim for something like 230 or higher. Now you might wonder, “Why aim higher?” Well, let’s say your department can only admit 200 students based on merit, and 2000 candidates applied. If you scored exactly 200, but 500 others scored 230 or more, you’ll likely be left out. That’s how the quota system works.

I hope you understand this!

What is FUTMINNA Cut-off Mark

FUTMINNA cut off mark is the minimum score candidates must obtain to be eligible for admission into the Federal University of Technology Minna.

Before we proceed, let me quickly explain the difference between the JAMB cut-off mark and the Departmental cut-off mark to you.

JAMB Cut Off Mark

JAMB cut off mark is the same as the general cut-off mark. It is the minimum score candidates must obtain in the JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination [UTME] to be eligible for admission. It is determined by the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board. No institution must choose a general cut off mark below the JAMB cut off mark but can decide to choose a general cut off mark more than the JAMB cut off mark. JAMB cut off mark is like a base cut off mark for all tertiary institutions. Hope you understand. Good!

Departmental Cut-Off Mark

This is the minimum score candidates must get to be eligible for admission into a particular department. It is the cut off mark for each course and it is being determined by the authority of each department. Also, note that not all institutions release their departmental cut off mark.

Do note that the determination of cut off mark depends on some factors which include;

  • Performance of the candidates: The higher the performance of the candidates, the higher the cut off mark and vice versa.
  • Quota system: If the number of candidates to be admitted to a certain department is small, this may result in a higher cut off mark.
  • Competition: The higher the number of candidates, the higher the cut off mark and vice versa.

So, you might want to tighten your belt very well!

How To Calculate FUTMINNA Aggregate/Screening Score

Since the inception of the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board Central Admission Processing System JAMB CAPS, all institutions are required to make JAMB scores to weigh at least 50% of the total aggregate score. Meaning that JAMB can weigh 50% or more, depending on the institution’s choice.

Note that FUTMINNA has not released the calculation of the aggregate score for the 2024/2025 academic session but we are going to explain the likely way FUTMINNA may decide to calculate it.

We all know that FUTMINNA set a total of 40 questions for their Post UTME, so they may decide to use the 50:40:10 system [50% JAMB, 40% Post UTME, & 10% O’level]

EXAMPLE;

Assuming; 320 JAMB Score, 30 Post UTME score, and five core subjects [three B2 and two C4]

A1 is 6, B2 is 5, B3 is 4, C4 is 3, C5 is 2 and C6 is 1.

O’level: 5+5+5+3+3 = 21

Now divide the total by 3: 21/3 = 7

O’level = 7

JAMB Score divided by 8

JAMB: 320/8 = 40

JAMB = 40

Post UTME = 30

Total Score = 40 + 30 + 7 = 77

This means you score 77/100

Hope you understand.
