We’ll cover both types of lists that ESUT uses for admissions, Merit and Non-merit. Stick around till the end so you don’t miss out on any crucial details!
I won’t go into what an admission list is, you probably know that already. But let’s talk about the two different kinds of lists you might find your name on: the Merit List and the Non-merit List.
Merit List
Now, the Merit List is pretty straightforward, it’s made up of students who’ve crushed their JAMB exams and scored way above the cutoff marks for their chosen courses. So, let’s say the cutoff for your course is 245, and you’ve scored 360; chances are you’ll find your name on the Merit List, which is often the first one to be released.
Non-merit List
Then we have the Non-merit List. This list features students who may not have hit those high scores but still managed to make it past the general cutoff or were a bit above the cutoff for their specific course. This list usually comes out after the Merit List and is often referred to as the Second List.
And don’t forget, there’s also a Supplementary List, a kind of extension to the Non-merit List. If you didn’t make the first two, there’s still hope with this one, sometimes called the Third List.
