The Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program is now open for applications for the 2025-2026 academic year. This fully funded scholarship is available to African students of Egyptian origin who intend to pursue undergraduate or master’s degrees at top universities in the USA. The scholarship covers full tuition, living allowance, travel, and health insurance.
Scholarship Overview
The Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program is designed to promote educational development and character building of young Egyptians by providing opportunities to study at prestigious universities in the United States. Launched by Orascom Construction in 2000, the program is a model of private sector support for sustainable educational programs.

Eligibility Criteria
For Undergraduate Applicants:
- Must be Egyptian nationals residing in Egypt (preference given to non-dual nationality holders).
- Plan to start studies in the USA in 2025.
- Commit to returning to Egypt for two years after graduation.
- Must not have lived abroad for more than three years.
- TOEFL iBT score of 100 or above.
- GPA of 3.5 or 90% in Thanaweyya Amma certification or equivalent.
- Minimum SAT scores:
- Old SAT: 2100 (Reading 700, Math 700, Writing 700)
- New SAT: 1450 (Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 730, Math 730)
- Or SAT II in 3 subjects: 600 or above.
- Participation in extracurricular activities.
For Master’s Applicants:
- Must be Egyptian nationals residing in Egypt (preference given to non-dual nationality holders).
- Plan to pursue a master’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or Construction Management at one of the top US universities.
- Must not have lived abroad for more than three years.
- Commit to returning to Egypt for two years after completing the degree.
- TOEFL iBT score of 100 or above.
- GPA of 3.5 or “Very Good” overall grade.
- Minimum three years of work experience.
- MBA applicants: GMAT score of 650 or above.
- GRE scores: Minimum overall 302, Analytical Writing 4.5.
- Participation in extracurricular activities.
Note: Candidates with an Egyptian Master’s degree in a technical field different from the one they’re applying for will be considered. Those who already have a Master’s degree from a foreign university or an Egyptian Master’s degree in the same field will not be considered.

Application Procedure
For Undergraduate Applicants:
- Create an Account:
- Register on the Amideast website here.
- Complete the Application:
- Fill in personal and educational details.
- Answer the following essay questions:
- Q1: Discuss how attending your chosen university will help you achieve success on personal, local, and national levels (500 words).
- Q2: Describe your passions and how you have pursued them (350 words).
- Attach Required Documents:
- Application form
- Copy of transcripts
- Resume
- Copy of graduation certificate or Thanaweyya Amma certificate (if available)
- Copy of test scores (SAT I / SAT II) & TOEFL iBT
- Two recommendation letters
- Submit the Application:
- Ensure all sections are complete and submit the application.
For Master’s Applicants:
- Complete the Application Form:
- Download and fill out the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Graduate application form.
- Attach Required Documents:
- Resume
- Copy of graduation certificate
- Copy of transcripts
- Copy of test scores (TOEFL iBT / GRE or GMAT)
